Mayumi Matsuno & Bret Reckard, at Metropolist in Seattle on 6.25.2016
Mayumi and Bret’s urban woodland wedding theme fit perfectly inside industrial event venue Metropolist. We pulled together a spring forest inspired color palette with mossy greens, ivory, dusty lilac, dove grey and rich eggplant. Metropolist’s vaulted beam ceiling allowed us to create a stunning floral ceremony centerpiece complete with a gleaming modern chandelier that later transitioned into the center of the dance party action. (and what a dance party it was!) A mix of long wood farm tables and round lilac tables carried alternating low, romantic arrangements, and high raspberry foliage “trees” to complete the woodland meadow landscape inside the former crane manufacturing building. One highlight of the evening was the traditional sake barrel breaking and toast with all of the guests, who were served sake in traditional wood boxes created by the mother of the bride. We had so much fun planning and designing this East-meets-West marriage nestled in the emerald city. Congrats to the happy couple Mayumi and Bret! Look out for this wedding featured in the latest issue of Seattle Bride, on the news stands now!

Jennifer Nonisa and Brian Reyes at The Historic 1625 Tacoma Place on 5.28.16
All we can see is sparks when these two walk into the room. So it was only right that we helped set the stage for their love to spark like wildfire! For the ceremony, Jen and Brian wanted to incorporate a few very special traditions including the Lasso and 13 Coins ceremony which bonds the two for a lifetime of love and dedication. The Wonderstruck gals were thrilled to have orchestrated this magical day in historical Tacoma

Qiana + Qi at Fairmont Olympic Hotel on 6.16.2016
One of the first things we heard from the enchanting couple Qiana and Qi was that they wanted to get married in a castle. After a month of scouring the PNW for the perfect fit, the gorgeous Fairmont Olympic Hotel Garden Room and Georgian Room were selected for ceremony and reception, respectively. And what a stunning backdrop those iconic rooms provided for this ultra romantic wedding! The couple incorporated a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony prior to the main event which called for lots of lush, custom red silk with golden embroidery. For the Western ceremony, we worked with Sal Floral Design and Vintage Ambiance to create a stunning multi-tonal ivory and blush rose and hydrangea filled “castle” backdrop in the Garden Room. Accents of silver and gold, an 8′ custom monogrammed gilded mirror, and a sea of candles are just some of the elements we used to help create the perfect ambiance for a romantic day and a fun filled reception, that ended with an epic confetti drop. Congratulations to the love birds Qiana and Qi! Be sure to watch the amazing video of their day created by Shark Pig!

Veresa Dierkes + Tyler Crews at Dairyland in Snohomish on 9.10.2016
For the lovely couple Veresa and Tyler, Wonderstruck design team had lots of fun dreaming up the theme Effortless Summer Romance at Dairyland. We used an easy breezy color palette of apricot, dusty rose and vintage lilac and highlighted with buttery yellow tones and ivory, the scene at this old Snohomish Dairy farm began to paint itself. We also introduced cool green and blue tones of eucalyptus and thistle into a lush wreath for the head reception table. Keeping with the Dairyland magic, individual goat’s milk soaps were made by a friend of the bride and wrapped in brown paper and placed at every seat. Tablescapes were farmhouse pastoral style with short milky white vases overflowing with garden roses, all tied together with long-stretched leafy garland and candle-lit through mercury glass votives. What a dream to plan, design, and party with Veresa and Tyler out in the countryside, congratulations you two!

Kim Johnston + Charles Leroux at JM Cellars, Woodinville on 10.22.16
Kim and Charles lit up Woodinville’s JM Cellars with their vibrant love on a beautiful autumn day. To create a setting of romantic, wine country elegance, we pulled together a vine-inspired color palette of purple hues in plum, eggplant and lavender accented with red satin, pewter and distressed silver. We flourished every inch of the venue with jewel-toned roses, cascading red Amaranthus and leafy vines to create a garden of splendor for these two. We designed signage inspired by dark wood wine barrels and lit the room with amber geometric lanterns and plum taper candles. One of the most touching moments of the day was during the ceremony, when Kim and Charles met each other in the middle of the aisle, to walk hand in hand to the ceremony. The evening was willed with amazing food from Kaspars, delicious JM Cellars Wine, and so much laughter. We were delighted to be a part of the lve story of Kim and Charles – and we wish them a magical future together.

Caitlin Feurey + Evan McKittrick at Maroni Meadows in Snohomish on 7.30.2016
Nothing says Summer Bliss like a July wedding at a private estate, complete with delicious food truck fare, tiki bar cocktails, bon fire and a proper dance party! Caitlin and Evan said their vows in the grass at a custom alter made from vintage wrought-iron gates which we flourished with wildflower bouquets. The Maroni Meadows grounds included a tiki bar hut, scenic landscape including a pond and surrounding gardens and beautiful old growth trees. The couple and their guests feasted on yummy gastropub appetizers by Seattle’s infamous food truck Bread and Circuses and for dinner, Maximus / Minimus. Keeping with the beautiful gardens of the wedding grounds, we arranged a tree-planting ceremony to celebrate the roots of their love. On the design tip, we put together a floral color pallet of rich Marsala dahlias, violet, ivory and apricot wildflowers along with generous leafy forest ferns and eucalyptus. For tablescapes, we went simplistic and floral-forward with mercury glass votives, lilac and navy blue accent linens. We had a blast planning designing (and partying) with this sweet couple and their lively bunch at beautiful Maroni Meadows!

Karlie Steiner-Bailey & Brian Causey at Fremont Foundry, Seattle on 1.29.16
Karlie and Brian are a powerhouse couple. They are both busy professionals who live very active lifestyles and found love in West Seattle. As soon as they did, they could not wait to be married. Karlie and Brian knew they were meant for each other after their second date – and it was only a matter of months before they would make their union official. We spent three months planning and designing their dream wedding at the Fremont Foundry – and the result, as you can see for yourself, was a magical winter night shared with 150 of their closest friends and family. Not big fans of floral, we were tasked with finding a unique way to create drama for their ceremony and reception. With the help of lighting geniuses Crimson Haze, our solution was the projection of massive Gothic-style windows on the walls of the Fremont Foundry for a heavenly ceremony experience. It never ceases to amaze us how much great lighting can really transform a space. To soften the room and add a little romance, pristine white orchids in gold glittering bottles surrounded the couple as they said their vows. Karlie’s bouquet also incorporated her signature golden sparkles with accents of hand-painted metallic roses mixed into a classic white rose bouquet. Candles and mirrored surfaces shone bright throughout the winter night – but nobody shined brighter than the newlyweds. Congrats to these two, Bey and Jay would be proud.

Anna Corliss and Amitoz Manhas at The Golf Club at Newcastle in Washington on 7.3.16
What a treat to work with such a beautiful couple Anna and Amitoz. Wonderstruck planned and coordinated with some amazing vendors to pull together every last detail for this stunning event at the Golf Club at Newcastle. The venue is surrounded by sprawling hills and breathtaking views of Lake Washington, Mt. Rainier, mountains and the city of Seattle. Honoring both the Indian wedding traditions and a western style wedding, the scene was set for Bollywood Glamour and black tie chic and it all came together fabulously. Congratulations Anna and Amitoz!

Stephanie Collins and Nate Long at AXIS Pioneer Square, Seattle on 11.6.15
Stephanie and Nate chose the historic open gallery space of AXIS Pioneer Square for their modern black and white wedding. The solid brick and mortar foundation of this classic Pioneer square venue provided the perfect foundation for their love to be declared upon. Stephanie and Nate are both graphic design and web design gurus – so naturally, their wedding was all about modern simplicity, clean lines, and classic details. We loved helping them bring their ceremony balloon backdrop to life. Stephanie’s vision for her wedding also included lots of lush, romantic greenery based centerpieces and bouquets – reminiscent of the rain forests in the Pacific Northwest. One of the most unique details of the design was that all of the greenery arrangements were created inside of a collection of brass pots and candle holders curated a piece at a time by the bride herself. We thought this was a great way to incorporate personality into the design. One of our favorite moments was the unveiling of what came to be known during our planning meetings as “cookie mountain.” This was a mountainous display of more than a dozen varieties of cookies and small sweet treats that the couples friends and family baked for the occasion. City Catering served up some adorable milk shooters to accompany the cookies, and there wasn’t an unsatisfied sweet tooth in the building. The evening concluded with a danceparty punctuated by several live vocal performances – one of which was an unforgettable rendition of Stephanie singing a smashing rendition of “Everlasting Love” to Nate. It was a magical evening, and we are so happy for this awesome duo. Congrats Nate and Stephanie!

Nicole Potts and Mike Helgeland at Sole Repair Shop, Capitol Hill, Seattle on 12.19.15
Feast your eyes upon the glamorous winter wedding of Nicole and Mike at Sole Repair in Capitol Hill. We think that winter weddings might just be the new black. Whats not to love about an opportunity to work with a color palette of sultry reds and rich burgundy contrasted by shimmering metallics and hints of blush and forest green? Swoon. Add floating candles everywhere and mix with a fabulous bar and killer nosh from Feed Co, and you are set for an evening to remember. We loved how fierce Nicole and her bridesmaids looked in their long gowns and black leather jackets which made for some gorgeous photos in the urban landscape of Pioneer Square. They even ran into some of Santa’s helpers along the way! Inside the Sole Repair Shop, Mike and Nicole said, “I-Do” beneath a wintry garland of local greenery and guests delighted in the “his and hers” signage and Christmas Tree Ornament party favors. Congrats to the Potts-Helgeland gang, what a great way to kick off the holiday season! We could definitely feel the love…

Charisse Arce & Brian Starr at Froggsong Gardens, Vashon Island on 9.6.15
“…a loving sentiment of our journey, the past, the present and the future. May it embody our dreams, both actualized and those dreams yet to be….”
Charisse and Brian love each other to the moon and back – that is plain as day. They also love nature, dancing, and their friends and family. Inspired by the Sun and the Moon and the Starrs (Brian’s family name) we set out to create the perfect “Stargazer” wedding at Frogg Song Garden for this power couple. We mixed celestial bronze, silver, and navy table top elements with friendly sunflowers and romantic candle light to create an organic, yet sophisticated design within the gorgeous floral landscape that is the heart of Frogg Song Gardens. Thoughtful and heartfelt details became the hallmark of this wedding – from the Mexican Tavalera Tiles selected as guest favors, to the stunning hand made quilt the couples friends and family made, to the custom cocktails that greeted each guest – and so much more. Oh – and the evening concluded with the most epic dance party fueled by a freak rainstorm that I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing. It was a magical evening marrying the Starrs.

Katie and Ryan celebrated their modern romance on a sun-drenched rooftop of the Fremont Foundry on July 31st – and we had so much fun helping them celebrate. When we first met Katie, she told us that her wedding vision was “Modern design meets a Mexican Fiesta.” Together, we dreamed up the perfect floral arrangements in punchy jewel and sherbert tones for her tablescapes and personal flowers. Next, we wove lush tropical greens into a modern arch for a whimsical ceremony backdrop complete with gold scoppio stars. Gold geometric containers and starbursts with teal embellishments amongst soft white seating arrangements added the perfect amount of south of the border charm to this evening in the heart of Ballard. The bride lovingly created all of the gorgeous calligraphy wood signage and teal place cards herself, and the father of the bride added the most adorable containers of home grown succulents to the tables to complete the design. Guests enjoyed a rooftop dinner on long farm tables and were later invited to cool down with locally made popsicles on the rooftop dance floor. Guests danced the night away by the light of the mega-moon and strands of cafe lights. Memories of this perfect Seattle summer evening wedding will keep us warm through the long PNW winters to come. Congrats to Katie and Ryan!

Jill and Marshall’s fall wedding was rich with autumnal tones and rustic charm in the heart of industrial Seattle. SODO Park was decked out in warm shades of orange and red floral, and the atmosphere inside Sodo Park was joyful and sweet – just like the duo’s favorite dessert – apple pie. Jill and Marshall were so fun to collaborate with throughout their entire wedding planning and design process. A crafty couple, we helped Jill and Marshall design and create their wedding save the dates and invitations on our in house letterpress. We had fun brainstorming ideas for their guest book with them – which ended up being a pair of vintage skis that their guests could embellish for the walls of their new home (Jill and Marshall love to back country ski). The pair also made home-made blackberry liquor for each of their guests to take home at the end of the night which we really enjoyed styling. Spending time exploring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest is one of this couple’s favorite hobbies – which was evident in the carefully chosen natural decor that helped narrate their love story throughout the day. One of our favorite stories from the day is of Jill’s mom -who loves wedding cake so much, that when she heard about the couple’s plans to have a pie bar at their wedding, nearly shed a tear. You see – wedding cake is her very favorite dessert. Jill and Marshall decided to surprise Mom with her very own wedding cake during the dessert cutting ceremony – and Mom was thrilled to tears. Just check out the photos. It was a truly sweet moment that just goes to show it really is the little details that mean the most. Please enjoy a glimpse of this magical night with their closest family and friends in the heart of Seattle.

In the early fall, Lindsey and Greg launched their endless love on Lake Union aboard the MV Skansonia, the historic Washington state ferry boat built in 1929. Elegant and rich mahogany and antique gold mirror accents surrounded the reception area which the couple dressed up in pumpkin and navy fall colors with trimmings of burlap, satin and lace. Airy baby’s breath, eucalyptus, and thistle in bunches provided simple and warm table decor inside DIY burlap and lace decorated containers. Antique lanterns filled with gorgeous dahlias and other locally grown flowers made the ceremony and cocktail spaces feel cheerful and light hearted. After a star-lit ceremony with the Seattle Skyline shining in the back ground, and a buffet dinner with homemade desserts, the first mates and their crew rocked the boat with some killer dance moves! One of our favorite details from this wedding are the handmade wedding favors – a duo of “Jam and Jams” curated by the couple. All the best to the newlyweds Lindsey and Greg. Erin Williamson & Colby Chapman at The Georgetown Ballroom on 10.10.15
“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”
In the words of Marty McFly, “Great Scott!” Erin and Colby definitely wed their way into the future in style at the Georgetown Ballroom. What happens when two imaginative, movie loving designers get married? Only the best back to the future-movie themed-Georgetown Ballroom wedding ever! Hallmarks of this wedding included a surprise appearance by the Delorean, a super rad movie poster seating assignment marquee made by the groom, some of the yummiest cakes we’ve ever tasted, and so much love, we don’t know how to begin to describe it. This union was a blast, bon voyage you two!

We met this couple 6 weeks before their wedding – and we planned, designed, and made one epic party for this duo and their guests in record time. Jennifer Mabale & Russell Klenetsky at The Arctic Club on 5.16.15
The ornate and singularly spectacular Arctic Club, a landmark pioneer Square building constructed in 1916 set the perfect stage for this epic Jewish / Pilipino wedding for a one of a kind couple. We loved designing and constructing a custom modern chuppah for this ceremony in the round beneath the dome’s sparkling chandelier. So much detail went into the planning of this wedding – from the custom programs complete with tissues for happy tears to the gorgeous florals and super fun open air Photo Booth – this was truly a celebration of love done in the most beautiful way. Ornella Bardinelli & Lucas Lorenzo at The Corson Building, Georgetown on 8.29.15
“…I promise to treat you with kindness, respect, appreciation and grace… I promise to value our difference as much as our common ground…”
The union of Ornella and Lucas unfolded as an elegant and intimate celebration with their closest community and family. Accents of twinkling light and vibrant popping jewel-tones and greenery warmed the Italian-style cottage of The Corson Building, all tucked away in the stone and steel of Georgetown. The evening featured a custom dessert bar, a packed dance floor, and a cigar bar and smoking lounge. What better way to celebrate a style all their own, complete with sparklers and the official union of two families. Congratulations, Ornella and Lucas! A little rain was no match for your love.

Kelsey Cline & Erik Houser at Guemes Island Resort, Anacortes on 7.4.15
What do you get when you blend Frank Sinatra’s Style and natural elements from the Pacific Northwest shoreline? The answer is an elegant night of love and fireworks (and one heck of a dance party) at the edge of the Puget Sound! This couple’s rustic and classic Guemes Island wedding glowed with old school glamour and touches of nature. Some of the highlights included a gorgeous cake made by the mother of the bride, a 5′ diameter hanging driftwood chandelier that we custom designed to hang above the head table, and a living room on the beach, made possible by Vintage Ambiance. Natasha D’Silva and Casey Cramer at Cramer residence, Seattle on 7.29.14
“Where we love is home – home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.” -Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
We were honored to collaborate with the Cramers to transform their West Seattle Home overlooking Puget Sound into a festive gathering place for their special day. Celebrating the brides Indian Heritage, and the Groom’s Jewish roots, we helped this couple create the perfect fusion of cultures which defined their own style. The wedding chuppah featured a vibrant yellow draping, and the ceremony melded traditions from both cultures. The couple did both a traditional American style first dance and a bollywood dance, which the guests LOVED (the groom was adorable and the bride was stunning). A vibrant citrus palette and fuschia-toned wild flowers were fitting for Natasha and Casey’s bright future together. One of our favorite moments was their grand entrance, in which they cut a heart out of a big, red sheet together, and then Casey carried Natasha across the heart threshold to the dance floor. Perfection, and so creative. Best wishes to this love-rich couple!

Karen Beckman and Philip Spencer, Hotel 1000, Seattle on 6.27.15
“…Savor the Love!”
We brought a romantic garden to the heart of the city for Karen and Phil’s gorgeous wedding, right in the heart of downtown Seattle at Hotel 1000. Edison bulbs in custom designed chandeliers illuminated the love and laughter of the evening through soft hanging vines. Thousands of flowers in soft blush, lavender, and ivory filled every surface. Wedding guests gathered for the ceremony on plush parlor seating inside the couple’s personal rose garden for the afternoon ceremony – and later enjoyed the space as as it was transformed into a nightclub for an evening of dancing and dessert. Valerie Coukoulis and Carl Haas, Roche Harbor Resort, San Juan Island on 5.18.14
Along the Northwest side of San Juan Island in a little white chapel almost hidden in the trees, Valerie and Carl said “I Do.” It was the most adorable Catholic Mass we’ve ever seen. The lovely Roche Harbor Resort was the perfect choice for this couples destination wedding. We transformed the pavilion into a dining lounge for 70 of their closest friends and family, and cocktails were enjoyed in the sun drenched garden and courtyard. Blush peonies and garden roses spilled from modern silver lantern arrangements on the guest tables – paying homage to the seaside and the luxe garden setting surrounding the pavilion. A specialty desert display crated from hand cut drape and vintage furniture was filled with delicious treats. The dance party was especially memorable – as the first song following the couples first dance was “Turn Down for What” which got everyone, including the Catholic Priest onto the dance floor to shake their moneymakers. Guests danced the night away. Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Haas!

Victoria Oh & Charles Rapkin at Rainier Chapter House on 09.05.15
Victoria and Charles love gaming, their labradoodle, and most of all, each other. Victoria defined her wedding day vision for us as “Kate Spade and Anthropologie have a baby” and we couldn’t have been happier to make this vision come to life. A combination of bold stripes with pops of rich citrus, and berry floral tones and bright greens mixed with geometric gold accents created a modern and spirited vibe at the Rainier Chapter House for their ceremony and reception. One stand out detail from the wedding were the gorgeous traditional Korean dresses that the ladies in Victoria’s family wore. Also, the specially designed modern, white chuppah with bright floral accents was the perfect detail for a modern Jewish Wedding Ceremony. Heather Bliss and Cable Smith at DeLille Cellars, Woodinville on 8.15.15
The Bliss-Smith late summer wedding was held on the woodsy estate of DeLille Cellars in Woodinville. The day was classic, elegant, and planned to perfection. Outside, the ceremony took place on an island under sweeping conifers and guests were surrounded with Northwest-meets-French ambiance of the gardens as they watched the vows. The ceremony included perfectly timed entrances for the wedding party from three different locations, and when Heather was escorted by her father down the aisle, the sweetest part was her grandparents tearing up at her sight and holding each other close. Moments like these are why we love weddings. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour near the garden gazebo while listening to a live guitarist. Dinner took place under a white tent on the patio, followed by a decadent cake cutting and dancing inside by the DeLille hearth. Details defined the day, from the song the father of the bride sang to his daughter during their dance, to the custom chalk signage, and the beautifully curated tablescapes. We loved helping these two tie the knot. Romance levels were certainly off the charts for Heather and Cable’s big day, congratulations!

Katherine Bourget & Nathan Smith at Within SODO, Seattle on 10.04.15
Kate and Nate are a couple who won our hearts. With their love for quirky details, their imaginative ideas, and their fun light-hearted attitudes, they were a joy to celebrate with and a match made in heaven for us. Within Sodo was the ideal party spot for this couple – and they totally made the space their own. A forrest inspired northwest theme was created inside the concrete walls of the venue. (not an easy feat!) The ceremony featured a greenery covered wall that would be coveted by any Anthro store, and the off-the-charts-cute ring bearers and flower girls (there were 10!!) walked giant gold and ivory balloons down the aisle to add some whimsy to the event. We also loved the invitation tea towels they custom printed for their invitations in our screen print shop. Cocktails were kicked off on the sunny roof deck, and the night ended with tasty desserts and so much dancing our feet hurt just watching it! These two love birds deserved a unique day to celebrate their vibrant love, and we loved being a part of it! Congrats to the Bourget-Smith couple!

Wonderstruck’s own private venue, The Marmaduke Estate sits on a hillside along Lake Washington, the perfect locale for the Austrian-style garden wedding of Julie and Matthias. Home-grown dahlias and zinnas contributed to the decor and the day even included traditional Austrian boutonnieres. The ceremony for 100 guests took place on a roof deck overlooking Lake Washington, followed by cocktails in the garden. A large tent provided a dining space beneath the trees, and overhead, custom jewel-toned ribbon wreaths suspend over communal wood tables provided a fun and unexpected setting for guests to feast – and later dance – until the bride was “stolen” and the party moved indoors to the secret speakeasy. Congratulations to the newlyweds who kept the dance floor rocking until past 2am. Prost!
